The town is aware that some residents have expressed their interest in attending the Board of Selectmen meeting this Thursday evening at 6:00 PM in accordance with MGL 30A section 21, to discuss the discipline or dismissal of, or complaints or charges brought against, a public officer, employee, staff member or individual. This is an employment-related matter which would normally be handled in an executive session, however, the employee has requested the issue be discussed in an open session. Open Session is not the same as a Public Hearing. Residents will be able to watch and listen to the proceedings, but there is no opportunity for public comment or participation. In addition, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Governor’s Orders, occupancy at Town Hall is extremely limited. Only 10 individuals are allowed in the Community Room at one time. After Board members, staff, press, and the employee subject to the hearing, there is no additional public space in the community room. There is occupancy for up to 8 residents to remain in the hallway outside of the community room to watch and listen to the proceedings. Any overflow members of the public will need to remain outside of the building during the meeting and there is no mechanism to watch or listen from outside the building. For that reason, interested residents are strongly encouraged to watch the meeting from home. The meeting will be recorded and broadcast live on Tyngsborough TV.
