Board of Selectmen & Board of Assessors Amend the Senior Tax Work Off Program

Tyngsborough, Massachusetts– The Board of Selectmen & Board of Assessors are pleased to announce that participants in the FY2024 Senior Tax Work Off Program will see three significant changes to the program when they begin in January.

Maximum Abatement Amount Increased to $1500 (up from $1000)

Hourly Rate Increased to $13.00 per hour (up from $8.00)

Number of Hours Required to Earn Maximum Abatement reduced to 115 (down from 125)

These changes reflect the importance that this program plays not just for the participants but for Town Departments who utilize these skilled workers for various projects and tasks. On top of these changes, both boards approved a change to the Program Schedule which will see the program start on January 3 and end on October 31. This will make financial reporting and hour tracking easier by keeping it in the same year.

Application packets for the Fy24 program will become available on October 3rd. They can be picked up in the Town Administrator’s Office, the Tyngsborough Public Library, the Board of Assessors’ Office, and the Council on Aging. Information will also be available at tyngsborougma.gov.

Residents looking to learn more about the program should contact the Town Administrator’s Office by phone 978-649-2300 x100 or email [email protected]
