TYNGSBOROUGH, MA –The Town of Tyngsborough signed a thirty-six-month contract with its current supplier, First Point Power, which will provide residents and businesses with price stability as well as continue to offer a green option that uses 100% National Wind renewable energy. Beginning with the November 2021 meter reads, the new standard rate will be $0.10943 per kWh and the green option will be $0.11318 per kWh. The Program’s standard rate is twenty six percent lower than National Grid’s winter Residential Basic Service price of $0.14821 per kWh.

“We are excited to announce that the program is able to provide such great relief to our residents on their electric bills this winter,” said Town Administrator Matthew Hanson, “In addition, the Program locks in rates for the contract term which will insulate ratepayers from market fluctuations.”

No action is required by individual consumers. All accounts currently enrolled in the Program will remain in the Program at the new rates as of the November 2021 meter reads. This change will be noted on the November 2021 bills and will be seen on the December 2021 bills.

There are no enrollment, early termination, or cancellation fees attached to the Tyngsborough electricity program. Residents who choose to opt-out can also opt-in at a later date if they so choose at no cost. However, anyone switching from a contract with a third-party supplier may be subject to penalties or early termination fees charged by that supplier. Ratepayers should verify terms before switching.

Basic Service rates change twice a year or more, depending on rate class. As a result, the aggregation rate may not always be lower than the Basic Service rate. The goal of the aggregation is to deliver savings over the life of the program against National Grid’s Basic Service. However, such savings and future savings cannot be guaranteed.
