PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release
Tyngsborough- The Tyngsborough Select Board, Police Chief Richard Howe, and Fire Chief Wes Russell have issued the following statement regarding the Town’s exploration of a future switch to regional dispatch.
“At their meeting on September 18, 2023, the Select Board heard initial public input regarding the Town’s most recent exploration of a regional dispatch option for Tyngsborough. That feedback generated a series of questions and concerns that all parties agree need to be further vetted. The Town will work with its partners in public safety including administration, unions, and the public at large to conduct further stakeholder engagement around any possible future move to a regional dispatch center. The parties understand this process will take time and as such wish to clarify that there is no imminent decision regarding regional dispatch pending, and the Town will not submit a grant application for the previously discussed December round. Chief Howe and Chief Russell acknowledge that when done properly, regional dispatch centers can provide the same level of public safety that residents currently enjoy and offer opportunities for growth to our dispatchers. Collectively, we look forward to future engagement as we go through the process of determining the best path forward for Tyngsborough.”
