As of January 7, 2022, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is experiencing a dramatic increase in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations. The State’s 7-day average positivity rate is 22.43% and Tyngsborough’s rate is 16.24%. As a result, several public boards & commissions have announced a switch to remote meetings at least for the month of January. These meetings are authorized to be conducted remotely under the June 2021 Act Extending Certain COVID-19 Measures which was signed into law by Governor Baker on June 16, 2021. This act authorized an extension of the March 2020 suspension of certain components of the open meeting law which now allows Boards & Committees to conduct public meetings entirely remotely so long as reasonable access is provided to residents. This authorization is valid through April 1, 2022.
Not all public bodies in Tyngsborough have switched to remote meetings.
Boards & Committees who have since announced the switch include:
- Sustainability Committee 1/18/2022 at 6:30 PM
- Capital Asset Management Committee 1/20/2022 at 5:30 PM
- Planning Board 1/20/2022 at 7:00 PM
All meetings that are being conducted remotely will indicate such on the publicly posted meeting agenda. Agendas can be viewed in person at Town Hall or online by visiting the Town Calendar. Members of the public wishing to actively participate in a remote meeting may do so by using the participation information available on the meeting agenda. Residents may participate via computer by clicking on the Zoom link or may dial in on a cell phone or land line using the dial in numbers on the agenda. While a resident is not able to share their screen or video, they may raise their hand to be unmuted to speak on any item for which the public has been invited to speak on.
All meetings continue to be recorded and most often broadcast live by Tyngsborough TV. These meetings are available by visiting our Media on Demand section of our website.
If you have questions about participating in a public meeting, contact the Town Administrator’s Office by phone 978-649-2300 x100 or email [email protected]
