Town Manager Colin Loiselle announced today that the Tyngsborough DPW was awarded a $326,500 Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) Grant to design the replacement of the Bridge Meadow Brook Culvert on Dunstable Road.

This culvert has been the site of frequent flooding over the last year. In 2019, the Town utilized federal funding to replace the culvert located at the Elementary School with a larger, more-modern culvert. While this alleviated flooding issues up stream from the Elementary School, it has also resulted in increased water heading downstream to the culvert in question which is undersized and failing. As a result, flooding has become a recurring problem.

The Engineering Division of the DPW has been awarded multiple state grants over the last two years for culvert work and has incorporated these projects into their capital planning efforts. This particular grant, which is for Fiscal Years 2025 and 2026, will allow the Town to design the replacement and plan for the replacement through capital and other state or federal grants.

Town Manager Colin Loiselle and DPW Superintendent Jake Zwicker joined Governor Maura Healey in Leominster today for the grant award announcement and to lobby for increased state funding for this critical work.

This grant award brings Tyngsborough's FY25 grant total to just shy of $1.2M with only one month down.
