The National Weather Service has issued a Cold Weather Advisory for our area beginning at 7:00 PM on Thursday, January 29, 2026 and lasting through 11 AM on Friday, January 30th.
During this period, we could see windchills as low as 18 degrees below zero. In these conditions, frostbite and hypothermia can become real threats in a matter of minutes.
Residents are advised to:
➡️Limit outdoor exposure during this time.
➡️Limit outdoor time for pets -- this weather is too cold for domestic pets to be outside for long periods of time.
➡️Check on vulnerable neighbors.
➡️Remember that carbon monoxide is a silent threat. Clear vents & don't run generators or gas emitting heating sources in your home.
➡️Report dangerous or unsafe situations to 911.
The Tyngsborough Fire Department will monitor for potential power outages and stands ready to open a warming center if necessary.
