West Nile Virus Risk Update - 8/12/2025

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has increased the risk level for West Nile Virus (WNV) for Tyngsborough to "moderate" following a positive WNV case in a neighboring community.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has increased the risk level for West Nile Virus (WNV) for Tyngsborough to "moderate" following a positive WNV case in a neighboring community. 

Here's what you should know:

  1. Be prepared & know your risk! Repair screens, clean up and remove mosquito breeding sites like standing water & puddles or unused swimming pools. Report such circumstances to your local Health Department.
  2. Wear long sleeves and long pants from dawn to dusk when weather permits.
  3. Use mosquito netting on baby carriages and playpens. 
  4. Wear mosquito repellent when outdoors, especially between dusk and dawn.
  5. Dump standing water twice weekly.
