Nine Tyngsborough Residents Graduate from the 2025 Civic Leadership Academy
Tyngsborough — At the Select Board's November 3, 2025, meeting, Town Manager Colin Loiselle and Media Program Director Rony Camille recognized nine (9) residents who had recently completed the Town's 2nd Annual Civic Leadership Academy.
Now in its second year, the Civic Leadership Academy was designed to bring residents into the fold of local government by helping them develop an understanding of how the Town operates. Over the course of ten weeks, participants dive head first into each department through lecture style and hands-on programming. Participants hear directly from department heads and staff and are able to ask questions and explore any area of interest to them. This year, participants toured a sewer pump station, developed a capital budget using real-world constraints, learned about how elections are run, and took a deep dive into municipal finance just to name a few.
"This program puts the power of local government right in the hands of the people who live in town by helping develop the understanding and confidence they need to get involved — either by running for office, applying to serve on a board or committee, or by simply participating in Town Meeting". Town Manager Colin F. Loiselle
Since the program's launch in 2024, one prior participant has been elected to local office, three appeared on recent town election ballots, and a handful have been appointed to one of the many volunteer boards and committees. The program runs every August through October with applications being accepted between June and July of each year.
"Continue to ask questions and participate in public service" — Media Program Director Rony Camille to the graduating cohort.
