Updated: Merrimack River To Be Lowered | Boott Hydropower

From Boot Hydropower, Inc:

May 9, 2015

To Whom It May Concern:

Although the Merrimack River (Lowell Hydroelectric Project headpond) upstream of the Pawtucket Dam remains lower than normal due to flashboard damage, BHI has deferred its planned flashboard replacement work by one week. The schedule change was made to best assure suitable river levels during regional youth championship rowing events occurring in the impoundment during May 16-17.

The full headpond lowering is now expected to begin Sunday evening, May 17th to conduct flashboard maintenance during the following week. The target headpond elevation is approximately dam crest level (or five feet below normal level), which should be achieved by the morning of Monday, May 18th, 2015. The impoundment will be held at this level for approximately five days after which headpond refill to normal levels will begin. Planned work, headpond elevation and schedules are dependent upon prevailing weather and river conditions.

If you have any questions or need additional information regarding this impoundment draw, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,
