OFFICE HOURS/MEETING SCHEDULE

The School Committee meets year round on the first and third Tuesdays of each month from September to June. Summer meetings are held at the will of the committee in July and August. The meetings are held in the Community Room at the Town Hall at 7:00 pm. The meetings are open to the public and the agenda is posted at all schools, at the Superintendent's office and at the Town Hall 48 hours in advance. Meetings are televised on Channel 8 live, and are re-played several times in between meetings.

MORE INFORMATION

The Tyngsborough School committee is made up of seven members. All members are elected at large in the town elections in the spring for a three-year term. The School Committee is responsible for evaluating and hiring a Superintendent of schools, reviewing and approving a budget for the School Department, approving policies relating to education and instructing the administrators to implement those policies, and negotiating contracts with the school personnel.

The Chair of the School Committee and the Superintendent of schools set the agenda for each meeting. Each School Committee meeting provides two opportunities for public
participation - at the beginning of the meeting and at the end. At this time, any citizen may address the School Committee on school business. However, the School Committee is under no obligation to make any decisions regarding any issue(s) raised during public participation. Only items listed on the agenda may be discussed during a regular meeting. Occasionally, a member may ask that an issue raised during participation be placed on the agenda for a future meeting. The approved minutes of School Committee meetings are kept at the Superintendent's office.
